John Edward Crowder, Sr., age 83, of Newton Falls passed into eternal life on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Laurie Ann Nursing Home. On September 13, 1930 in Akron, Roy Preston & Ethel Blanche (Mackley) Crowder were blessed with the birth of their son, John. He has lived in Newton Falls his entire life. John married the love of his life, Helen Irene Henary on January 20, 1952 and they have been blessed with 61 years of marriage. John worked at Union Saving & Trust in Warren, Niles Republic Credit Union and then McKelvey Credit Union as an office manager. He was a veteran of the US Army stationed in Alaska. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Champion. He held many positions in the church including Branch President, High Councilman and Sunday School President. John held the office of High Priest. He had a passion for farming and enjoyed doing genealogy and finding information on his ancestors. Memories of John will be carried on by his loving family; his wife, Helen Crowder of Newton Falls; his daughter, Ann (Quade) Kotter of Clearfield, UT; his sons, George (Vickie) Crowder of Layton, UT, John (Amie) Crowder of Newton Falls; his brother, Rev. Donald (Clara) Crowder of NC; grandchildren, Rocky Kotter, John (JJ), Josh, John III, & Jarred Crowder, Jessica Welsh, Alysha Major, Kaylin Williams, Kelsie Crowder and 9 great grandchildren. John was preceeded in death by a brothers, William & Robert Crowder. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. John will be laid to rest at Newton Falls Cemetery.
