John Robert Fijalkovich, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday June 15, 2023.  John was born on January 15, 1947 in Cleveland, OH the son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Drozeck) Fijalkovich. John served in the US Army from 1966-1968. John worked at American Greetings for over 30 years and University Hospitals for a few years before making the decision to retire and live life to the fullest. In the midst of supporting a family, John always found time to enjoy life's pleasures such as golfing, bowling, and flying. John always preached that life was too short, and while he surely lived his life by that saying, he still took time to stop and smell the roses and lend a helping hand along the way. One of the things John loved most was riding his motorcycle. From riding around Lake Erie or out west, John just loved to ride. From a young age, John also loved the outdoors whether it was camping, fishing, or just sitting around a campfire and telling stories with friends and family, John loved life.

Above everything, John always cherished friends and family. John was a gentle, kind, and loving man who always put the needs of others above his own. John was a devout Catholic and devoted family man. Beloved husband to Kathleen Nagy, father to Rebecca (Connor) Henson, and friend to many. John is preceded in death by his parents, and 5 brothers: Joseph, Richard, Thomas, Frank, and Andrew. We lay John to rest surrounded by the love of his family and friends, just as he wanted. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society.

Funeral Services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Sunday June 25, 2023 at 4:00pm.  Calling hours will be from 1:00- 4:00pm.    He will then be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH with full military honors on Monday June 26, 2023 at 1:15pm.
