(Jack) Gintert

John (Jack) Oliver Gintert, Jr., age 87, of Fort Pierce, FL, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday March 29, 2017, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, FL. Jack was born on Sept. 20, 1929 in Braceville Ohio, the son of the late John Oliver Sr and Teletha A. (Shank) Gintert. He grew up in Braceville and married the love of his life Elinor Jean Collier on November 6. 1949, and she passed away on September 8, 1991. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying such outdoor activities with family and friends while living in Ohio. He also loved singing and was an active member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, along with some of his siblings and children. He was a supervisor at Rockwell International in Newton Falls for 25 years. He was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Newton Falls. After moving to Fort Pierce in Florida from Newton Falls he still did plenty of fishing, both on the ocean and fresh water. Once in Florida he joined the local chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and spent a lot of enjoyable times with his friends there.Jack also enjoyed the game of golf immensely, playing and watching matches whenever he could. He became the happy owner of a hole in one in his later years, and also accomplished one of golfer's big dreams by "shooting his age" with a 78 during his 78th year. Memories of Jack will be carried on by his loving family: His daughter Karen Davies of Lordstown; His sons and daughter in laws; John R. & Karen Gintert of Estes Park, CO; Michael A. & Darlene Gintert of Newton Falls OH; Lawrence A. & Susan Gintert of Jaffrey, NH; Sister Betty Shaulis of Newton Falls; Brothers and sister in laws Edward D. & Jean Gintert of Braceville, OH; Richard & Ruth Gintert of New Milford, OH; Grandchildren Robert Davies and his wife Betsy, Allison Wilson and her husband Keith, Justin Gintert, Amanda Gintert and her husband Devin Collins, Dr. Michael Gintert and his wife Charlotte, Holly Kordinak and her husband James, John Gintert and his wife Stephanie, Elisabeth Gintert, and Dr. Anne Gintert; and 5 great grandchildren. Jack was also preceded in death by his brother Robert Gintert. The family will recieve friends Tuesday at the James Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be Wednesday April 5th at the First Christian Church in Newton Falls at 11am. Jack will be laid to rest beside his wife Jean in Crown Hill Cemetery.
