John L. Read age 79 formerly of Kent passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Monday Feb. 16, 2026 at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus at Newton Falls. He was born on Aug. 10, 1946 in Warren, OH the son of the late Edward Arthur Read and Louise Virginia (Wyndham) Read. John has lived in Kent since 2000, formerly of Cortland, OH. He graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1964. John went on to get his Masters Degree in Business from Ohio University. He then worked as a Manager at Packard Electric for over 30 years retiring in 1999. John served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from Feb. 1969 to Sept. 1970. He loved listening to music, going sailing, and snow & water skiing. John is preceded in death by his parents Edward & Louise Read.

He is survived by: 3 sisters: Susan Huffman of Austintown, Kristi Gibson of Newton Falls, Wendy Read of Newton Falls, 3 brothers: Edward Read of Newton Falls, Eric Read of Newton Falls, David Read of Newton Falls, special friends: Kevin & Robin Larson and many nieces & nephews.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services. Please donate to the charity of your choice.
