Obituary

John Wayne Seckman, age 94, of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest at his residence at 12:30 am on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 following a long illness. John was born on June 14, 1915 in Shinnston, WV the son of the late Philip Seckman and Willa (Wilson) Seckman. John married his first wife Mary Madeline Cheuvront on Sept. 25, 1937 and she passed away in Nov. 1971, then he married Ellen Louise Frazier Thompson on Dec. 13, 1980 ,and she survives him. He has lived in Newton Falls since 2008, formerly of Palmyra Twp. John worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Jack Peters Construction for 25 years retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church for many years, also was a 50 year member of the Charity Masonic Lodge #530 in Deerfield, 25 year member of the Palmy Chapter Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite & Blue Lodge in South Carolina. John loved to play cards, gardening, going to church and his Masonic Lodge, and especially his dog Charlie. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary, and 2 sisters, 1 brother and 1 grandson. Memories of John will be carried on by his loving family: His Wife: Ellen Louise Seckman of Newton Falls, OH, 1 daughter: Barbara Neely of Newton Falls, OH, 2 Step-Daughters: Judy & Bill Duncan of Tazewell, TN, Mary Linda & David Vogel of Columbus, IN, 2 Step-Sons: William Arthur Thompson of Clearwater, FL, Christopher Thompson of Newton Falls, OH 12 grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday April 17, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Charity Masonic Lodge, 2380 St. Rt. 225, Deerfield, OH. The memorial service is open to the public.
