Joseph J. Poptic, age 98 of Newton Falls, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Thursday night, July 26, 2018 at the Hospice House in Poland, OH. Joseph was born on September 9, 1919 in Johnstown, PA, the son of John Poptic and Ann Grace (Grodesky) Poptic. He graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1938. Joseph married the love of his life, Alice M. Banks, on December 28, 1944 in Edenton, NC, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage together before her passing on July 26, 2008. Joseph was a member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Parish, Knights of Columbus, VFW, and the USMC League, all of Newton Falls. He was also a member of Pipefitters Local #225 and was an Eagle Scout of Troop #272. He enjoyed travelling, the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joseph is survived by his son Jim and Karen Poptic of Newton Falls, son Bob and Pam Poptic of Lordstown, son Alan Poptic of Kentucky, son David and Maryann Poptic of Howland, daughter Diana and Stephen Ferrando of Orlando, FL, as well as 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Joseph is preceded in death by his wife Alice, parents, and siblings Mary Poptic, Betty Ann Poptic, Irene Kern, and George Poptic.
Per their wishes, cremation has taken place and Joe and Alice will have their ashes interred together at St. Michael's Cemetery in Newton Falls on Sunday Sept. 9, 2018 at 11:00am.
