Obituary

Joyce Ann Caldwell, 88 of Newton Falls, passed away at 3:45PM on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Country Club Rehabilitation at Newton Falls. She was born in Newton Falls on June 6, 1936, the daughter of the late Robert Lettie and Viola (Gehring) Dailey.

Joyce graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1954. The next year, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Caldwell on September 27, 1955. Together they shared 69 years of marriage.

She worked as a Dental Assistant for the late Dr. Copper until 1991 when she retired. Joyce was very active in her church; the First Church of God, where she has been a lifetime member. She taught Sunday School, prepared and helped with funeral dinners and was a part of the Prayer Shawl. She volunteered her time at Trumbull Memorial Hospital and with Missions through the church. She was a member of the Red Hats and the Dames of Malta. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, specifically Bridge and crocheting, Her and her friends would go for coffee and attend Town Hall meetings at Packard or they could be found shopping the mall, a local thrift store and garage sale. Anyone close to Joyce would say her favorite brand was Alfred Dunner.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; daughters; Janet Morris of Warren and Deborah (Clay) Yeich of Mogadore; her son, James (Miriam) Caldwell of Atlanta; five grandchildren; James Caldwell, Connie Robertson, Michael Byer, Adam Yeich and Rachel Forcier, six great grandchildren; Katey Caldwell, Waylon Caldwell, Christopher Mays, Jacob Mays, Brennan Byer and Brock Byer; and three great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Larry Caldwell, sister, Martha Kellar, a brother Robert Lettie and son in law, Chuck Morris.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at the First Church of God in Newton Falls with Pastor Jennifer Dorn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Joyce will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery following the church service.

Material contributions may be made in Joyce's memory to the Warren Family Mission or to St. Jude's; both of which held a special place with Joyce and often donated to herself.
