Judith E. Shewell, age 74, of Paris Township, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at her residence. Born on May 1, 1950, in Youngstown, OH, she was the daughter of the late Joseph John Gender and Edna Charlotte (Davis) Gender. Judy had been a resident of Paris Township since 1977, previously living in Struthers, OH. She married James R. Shewell on January 22, 1972, and they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage.

Judy was known for her strong work ethic and had a diverse career in food service, caretaking, and managerial roles. A devoted member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton Falls, she was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, doing word searches, playing cards, and spending time with her grandson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sisters Martha Thomas, Edna Tingler, and Barbara Gender, and her brothers Jack and Al Gender.

Judy is survived by her husband, James R. Shewell of Paris Township, OH; her son, Joseph (Elizabeth) Shewell of Youngstown; her stepdaughter, Lisa (Mike) Coontz of Vero Lake, FL; her stepson, Christopher (Erin) Shewell of Akron, OH; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Tuesday July 30, 2024 at 3:00pm with Pastor Shane Russo officiating. Calling hours will be from 1:00- 3:00pm. Cremation will follow the service. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory.
