Judith L. Daugherty age 82 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday Feb. 1, 2025 at the Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights. She was born on May 23, 1942 in Warren, OH the daughter of Theo Montgomery and Bertha (Bailey) Montgomery. Judy was raised on the family farm and lived her entire life in Newton Falls. Judy and Charles Daugherty were united in marriage on May 11, 1963 and have enjoyed the past 61 years of marriage together. Judy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Most important in her life were her family, friends, and faith. She was associated and also supported agriculture all her life. She was a member of the Farm Bureau. She was also a longtime member of the Newton Falls Congregational Church, where she was involved in Women's Fellowship, Missions Board, & was a Life Deacon. Judy being a volunteer for the Red Cross, was a Canteen worker at the Newton Falls Blood Drives. She had been an election poll worker for Newton Township. She was an avid reader, especially mysteries and historical novels. Judy was a fan of the NBA basketball. She enjoyed family trips to Cooks Forest every year. She is preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister: Pat Varmuzek.
Judy is survived by: her husband: Charles R. Daugherty of Newton Falls, children: Nancy (Aaron) Perkins of Newton Falls, Mark Daugherty of Newton Falls, Beth (Brad) Chenevey of Dalton, 2 brothers: Wendell (Louise) Montgomery of Diamond, Richard (Susan) Montgomery of Newton Falls, 4 grandchildren: Tanner Perkins,Taylor (Alec) Courtney, Bailey Chenevey and Brianna Chenevey.
Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday Feb 6, 2025 at 11:00am with Pastor Jennifer Dorn officiating. The family will receive friends for calling hours at the funeral home on Wednesday Feb 5, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm. Cremation will follow. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692 in her memory.
