Kenneth Phillip Kirsch Sr., age 96 of Columbus, formerly of Newton Falls, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 28, 2018 at The Forum at Knightsbridge. Kenneth was born on August 15, 1921 in Spangler, PA the son of the late Lawrence & Anna (Geus) Kirsch.
Kenneth was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp. serving during WWII. After active duty he enlisted in the Air Force Reserves where he served as a pilot for 35 years and obtained the rank of Major. He had a great love of flying and built his own airplane which he flew for over 30 years. Kenneth retired from the Ravenna Arsenal.
Kenneth married the love of his life, the former Helen Marie Bartek on September 23, 1944. Kenneth and Helen were blessed with 72 years of marriage before her passing on April 2, 2017.
Loving memories of Kenneth will be carried on by his daughters; Barbara (James) Demas of Columbus, Kathleen Kirsch of Columbus, Paula Overby of Fort Wayne, IN, his son Kenneth P. (Lisa) Kirsch Jr. of the Philippines, 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, sister Mary Louise Feast and brothers Joseph & Gregory Kirsch.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 9:00 - 10:00 am at James Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 10:00 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am funeral mass at St. Mary & St. Joseph Church. Kenneth will be laid next to his wife, Helen at St. Joseph Cemetery.
