Larry R.
Kimble
Jul 11, 1942 — Jun 18, 2026
Larry R. Kimble, age 83, of Newton Falls (formerly from Pillsbury, North Dakota), passed away into eternal life on June 18, 2026.
Larry was born on July 11, 1942, in Valley City, North Dakota as the son of the late Voyed & Victoria (Sadek) Kimble. In 1965, Larry moved to Sacramento, California, to work in his Uncle George’s backhoe business. While there, he reconnected with Carol Himmerich who had moved to help her sister Betty. (Larry and Carol met as children). Carol became the love of his life and they were married March 12, 1966, in Sacramento. Three of their four children were born in Sacramento. In 1970, they moved back to Pillsbury, North Dakota, to help Voyed run the family farm. Larry and Carol bought their home on Linden Street in Pillsbury for $1.00 from the grain elevator. Larry built an addition to the back of the house expanding the kitchen and adding a bathroom making the outhouse obsolete. Running water was also installed—what can you expect for $1.00? Their fourth child was born in Valley City. Over the years, Larry served as Pillsbury’s mayor and sheriff, but never the auditor! Larry and Carol enjoyed 55 years together before her passing on August 28, 2022.
Aside from working on his family farm and at the asphalt plant in Pillsbury, Larry owned and operated Kimble Backhoe Service for over 58 years. He enjoyed fishing, gambling (especially the pull tabs), taking rides on anything that had wheels, and was a wicked Pinnacle player. Anyone that knew Larry knew that he was always there to help no matter the time or weather.
Memories of Larry will be carried on by his loving family; his daughter Nicole & (Juan) Godina of Denver, CO, his 2 sons Tracy & (Gay) Kimble of Newton Falls, Jason Kimble of West Fargo, ND; his sister Sharon Eggert of Barnesville, MN his brother Dick & (Dixie) of Rio Linda, CA; his 10 grandchildren and his 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and multitude of cousins.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda, his wife Carol and their son Tony.
Per Larry's request, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Hope, North Dakota.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 (330)872-5440. Family and friends may view her obituary online or to send condolences, please visit us at www.jamesfuneralhomeinc.com
