Obituary

Laura Rose Potter, Davis, Farmer, age 96 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal life on Monday June 17, 2013 at Laurie Ann Nursing Home. She was born March 15, 1917 in Newbury, OH the daughter of the late Henry Ford Potter and Clara H. (Pfenniger) Potter. Laura married Sylvester E. (Babe) Davis on March 22, 1935. She was a housewife, making their home in Newton Falls since 1938. Together they raised their only daughter Carol Jean. Babe passed away on December 31, 1963. She then married James D. Farmer on July 26, 1965. Laura enjoyed crocheting, knitting and traveling with her husband Jim. Together they saw 49 states, 7 provinces of Canada and spent most of their winters in Florida. He passed away on February 19,1999. Following Jims passing she got reacquainted with her cousin, friend and loyal companion Ernest (Ernie) Pfenniger with whom she shared her home. They supported each other through another ten years, played thousands of games of cards, and enjoyed each others company until Ernie passed away in 2011. She belonged to the Newton Falls United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Circle. She was also a member of the Civil Defense in the 1950's. Laura is survived by a Daughter, Carol Jean Archer of Newton Falls, one brother, Raymond (Lois) Potter of Warren, four step daughters Laru Harshman of Southington, Louise Dyer, Ethel Flower, Margaret (Russell) Klinger, and daughter in law Ella Farmer all of Champion. 23 Grandchildren, 44 Great-grandchildren, and 24 Great-Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, sisters Louise (Richard/Les) York Davis, Iola (Harold) Young, and stepson James D. Farmer Jr. Funeral Services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Friday June 21, 2013 at 11:30AM. Friends may call from 10 to 11:30AM prior to the service time with Rev. Calvin Mason officiating. Laura will be laid to rest at Newton Falls Cemetery.
