Laura Elizabeth Sekora, age 78 of Newton Falls, passed into eternal life on Monday, January 18, 2010 at her home of lymphoma. Laura was born on May 24, 1931 in Fredericktown, PA the daughter of Louis George & Mary Elizabeth (Buckingham) Crawford. Laura had lived in Newton Falls since 1953 working at General Motors for 17 1/2 years before retiring in 1997. She was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton Falls where she served on many committees including the flower committee. Laura taught Ladies Sunday School Class, Vacation Bible School, and helped with the senior dinners at the church. Her love was decorating the sanctuary for holidays and special events. She also taught adult bible study in her home. Laura was known for her hospitality in her home, neighborhood and church. Laura loved visiting her children, grandchildren and great grandson. She enjoyed walking and making personalized blankets. Laura was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching her favorite NFL football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Memories of Laura will be carried on by her loving family; her daughters, Christine Sekora of Rye Brook, NY, Pauline Yoder of Santa Rosa, CA; her sons & daughter-in-laws, Joe & Janine Sekora of Newton Falls, Eugene & Dawn Sekora of Raleigh, NC, five grandchildren, John, Jamie, Marc, Christopher, Rebecca and one great-grandson, Jordan Daniel Wilson. Laura is preceeded in death by her parents and brothers, Clarence, Louis, and Grant. Calling hours will be held on Thursday January 21, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Newton Falls. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday at 11:00 am where a luncheon will follow.
