Obituary

LaVerne Jane Harvey, age 83, of Newton Falls passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 30, 1935 in Newton Falls, OH the daughter of the late William and Florence (Price) Shaulis.

LaVerne married Donald Earl Lobaugh on April 27, 1957. They were blessed with seven years of marriage before he passed away in November 20, 1964.

She then married John "Jack" Harvey on September 24, 1966 and enjoyed three years of marriage before he passed away in June 3, 1969.

LaVerne worked at Delphi Packard Electric for 41 years before retiring in 1997. In her retirement, she was an active and dedicated member of her community. She was a devoted member of the Newton Falls United Methodist Church, and a volunteer at Packard Museum and at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was also an active volunteer for the Democratic Party and a member of IUE #717.

She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Memories of LaVerne will be carried on by her friends and family, especially her four loving children: son Donald (Andrea) Lobaugh of Bishop, Texas; daughter Cynthia (Rich Cooke) Lobaugh of Newton Falls; son David Michael Lobaugh of Newton Falls;  son John "Daniel" (Dawn) Harvey of Newton Falls, a brother Ray (Tom) Shaulis of Newton Falls,  6 grandchildren: Sheldon Long, Cody Long, Skylar Gadley, and Jayme Gadley; Kyle Lobaugh, Brittany La Verne Lobaugh, and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two beloved husbands Don and Jack, her brother Robert Shaulis, and her dear friend and companion John Turkovich.

Calling hours for LaVerne will be Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 6-8 PM at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls.

A funeral service will be celebrated June 12, 2019 at 11:00am, also at James Funeral Home. After the services, LaVerne will be laid to rest beside her husband Donald at Lutheran Cemetery in Newton Falls. The family requests that all donations please be made to the American Cancer Society PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 in memory of LaVerne Harvey.
