Leland Eugene Grenter, age 89, of Braceville passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren. He was born on June 27, 1925 in Mesopotamia, OH the son of the late Henry James Grenter and Etta Estella (Champlin) Grenter. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy during WWII from 1943- 1946. After returning home, Leland met and married the love of his life, Mary Louise Peterson on June 6, 1948 and they have enjoyed 66 years of marriage together living in Braceville, OH. He worked as a Budget Coordinator and a Credit Manager for East Ohio Gas Company for 28 years retiring in 1987. He and his wife Mary are members of the Word of God Christian Fellowship Church in Canfield since 1969. Leland is also a member of the Warren Amateur Radio Clubcall sign KA8TGX, he was an Advisor of the Junior Achievement Club and was the First President of the Labrae School District. He enjoyed traveling, Ham Radios, gardening, playing his violin and reading his Bible, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Memories of Leland will be carried on by his loving wife Mary Louise Grenter of BracevilleOH. Two daughters and their husbands: Faye & Garry Houk of New Castle Pa,and Renee & Clay Mills of Ceder Park TX. His son Lynn Grenter of Warren Oh: Grand daughters Caroline Mills and Leigh Ann Mills both of Ceder Park TX, Grandaughter and her husband Virginia & Daniel Reyes of Saginaw TX Grand sons Matthew Houk of New Castle PA and James Mills of Austin TX, Grandson and his wife Eddie & Cara Mills of Hutto TX. Leland is preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters: Katie King and Lenora Haney. Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Wednesday July 9,2014 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 pm. Pastor John Dobritch will be officiating the service. Leland will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Mesopotamia, OH.
