Obituary

Lenora Mae Geist (Granny) age 95 of Warren passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born on January 1, 1916 in Redtown, OH the daughter of the late Andrew Alfred Houghton & Rosene (Mulpas) Houghton. She married the love of her life Doyle D. Geist on February 26, 1949 and they enjoyed 39 years of marriage together before he passed away on November 16, 1988. Lenora worked as a Corporate Secretary for Republic Steel Corporation retiring in September 1971. She was a member of the West Farmington United Methodist Church, a member of the Morning Light #80 Eastern Star, Liberty Temple #185 Pythian Sisters where she was awarded "Supreme Chiefs Voluntary Service" award, Women Relief Corp Hall #104 and the United Methodist Women. Some of her special achievements are Eastern Star 50 year member and Phythian Sisters 50 year member. Lenora loved playing bingo, reading, playing cards, and she was know for her crocheted Scrubbies that she made. Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Doyle, 1 daughter Adrienne (Snooky) Stull, 1 step- son Lowell A. Geist and 2 sisters Jean Dalrymple, Althea Almashy, and 1 step-daughter Shirley Tice. Memories of Lenora will be carried on by her loving family; her 1 sister Elizabeth Stewart of Sandusky, OH , a grandson William Stull of New Castle, PA, 2 granddaughters Kimberly Stull of Warren, Debra Stull of Kent; 6 Great-Grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, 6 nephews and 1 niece. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:30 am at Newton Falls Cemetery where Lenora will be laid to rest next to her husband Doyle. A memorial service will follow at the Newton Falls First Congregational Church 612 West Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 at 1:00 pm with Dr. Rev. Eric Bing officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County, 1211 Wilmington Ave., New Castle, PA 16105.
