Lillian I. Cavins, age 97 formerly a life-long resident of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday March 26, 2025 at the Community Skilled Healthcare Center in Warren. She was born on August 5, 1927 in Sullivan, IN, the daughter of the late George Frank Smith & Doxie Ellen (Jones) Smith. Lillian married the love of her life, James Paul Cavins on May 11, 1946 and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage together before his passing on April 2, 1994. Lillian has lived with her daughter in Leavittsburg since November 2022 formerly of Columbus, GA. Lillian loved loved the Lord and read her bible everyday. She also loved doing, puzzles, gardening, and flowers. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: James, 2 sons: Kyle Cavins, Ronnie Cavins, 3 sisters: Ruby Meadors, Mabel Cavin, Nancy Williams, and 3 brothers: Walter, Otto, and Jake Smith.
Lillian is survived by: her daughter Martha & Rev. Mitch Meadors of Leavittsburg; 1 brother: Chester & Mary Smith of Ewing, VA, 2 granddaughters: Melinda & Russ McQuaid of Howland, Kelly & James Lopez of Phenix City, AL, 2 grandsons: Mitchell Meadors & Cindy Matheson of Bazetta, Michael & Sarah Meadors of Champion, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The family would like to thank everyone at Community Skilled Healthcare Center for the wonderful love & care that they gave to Lillian.
Funeral services will be at the General Assembly Church of God on Monday March 31, 2025 at 12:30pm with Rev. Mitch Meadors and Assistant Pastor Rev. Glen Rader officiating. Calling hours will be from 11:00am - 12:30pm. She will be laid to rest beside her husband James at Fort Benning Cemetery in Fort Benning, GA. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the General Assembly Church of God 2021 East River Rd. Newton Falls, OH 44444 in her memory.
