Lloyd Eugene (Gene) Clonch, age 66 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, April 29, 2011 at St. Joseph's Health Center. On May 18, 1944 in Shinnston, WV, the late James & Nellie (Cottrell) Clonch were blessed with the birth of their son, Gene. He previously had lived in West Virginia until moving to Newton Falls. Gene was a truck driver for Becker Trucking until he was 35 and then he was self employed in property investments. He was a member of the Amvets in Newton Falls. Two of Gene's greatest thrills were hunting and golfing. He enjoyed hunting mule deer in Wyoming, white tail deer in southern Ohio, moose in Canada, caribou in Alaska, trips with his friends to hunt elk in Colorado and once while hunting in Alaska, stabbed a bear to death with his knife. When he wasn't hunting, he was golfing. His accomplishment besides the love of the game was a hole in one. Gene also enjoyed spending leisure time with his family and friends. Warm and loving memories of Gene will be carried on by his daughter, Brenda Clonch of Newton Falls, his sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald (Ron) & Bernadette Clonch of Newton Falls with whom he lived, Timothy & Sherry Clonch of Quinlin, TX, his brother and sister-in-law, Roy Clifford & Sue Clonch, sister in law Sylvia Clonch, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by two brothers, James Willard and Clarence Wilber Clonch. The family will receive friends for calling hours on Monday, May 2, 2011 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 3, 2011at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Gene will be laid to rest at Newton Falls Cemetery.
