Lucille Vernie Hogan age 72 of Diamond passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 4:15PM of natural causes. She was born on December 12, 1939 in Valley Head, WV the daughter of the late Zedie A. (Hamrick) Simmons. Lucille married the love of her life Glen R. Hogan on April 21, 1957 and they enjoyed 39 years of marriage together until he passed away on May 10, 1996. She has lived in Diamond for the past 3 years, formerly of Newton Falls for 12 years. Lucille loved to do crafts, sew, baking (especially her Fudge), gardening for which she was known for her knowledge of growing African Violets in her garden. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen, 1 son Darrell Hogan, 4 sisters: Olive Arbogast, Rosie Weese, Sylva Sharp, Jennie Currence, 3 brothers: Sherman, Homer, and Wilford Simmons. Memories of Lucille will be carried on by her friends at Willow Glen and Julie Pratt. She will be in our hearts forever. Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls,OH on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. There will also be calling hours on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the Valley Head United Methodist Church in Valley Head, WV, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00pm with Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Lucille will be laid to rest next to her husband Glen in Valley Head Cemetery.
