Mamie L. (Granny) Simmons, age 75 of Warren passed away peacefully on Saturday Sept. 14, 2013 at University Hospitals in Cleveland. She was born on Feb. 5, 1938 in Slatty Fork, WV the daughter of the late Forrest Austin Andrew Galford and Laura Mary (McCloud) Galford. Mamie married the love of her life , Glen W. Simmons on Oct 5, 1954, and they enjoyed 29 years of marriage together before he passed away on Dec. 23, 1985. She has lived in Warren since 1969, formerly of Valley Head, WV. Mamie loved to crochet, and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was willing to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen, 1 daughter Joyce Simmons, 4 brothers Merritt, Oakie, Lacy, and Kenneth Galford. Memories of Mamie will be carried on by: 1 daughter: Donna & Gerald Mulroy of Newton Falls, 3 sons: Charles & Barb Simmons of Leavittsburg, Bobbie & Audrey Simmons of Warren, David Simmons of Warren and 12 grandchildren & 15 great - grandchildren. Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Wednesday Sept.18, 2013 from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Thursday Sept. 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mike Nail & Rev. Kenneth Dodrill officiating.
