NEWTON FALLS - Margaret E. Peace, 92, of Newton Falls, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2014. She was born March 13, 1921 in Greenwood, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Lillian G. (McCuen) Elledge. December 5, 1938, Margaret married the love of her life, James C. Peace, in Spartanburg, South Carolina and they had four children: Don, Eddie, Freddie and Linda. They were blessed with 74 ½ years of marriage before his passing on Father's Day, June 16, 2013. She worked in the cotton mill in South Carolina and when she came to Newton Falls she worked as a waitress at the Superquick Resturant. Margaret was currently attending Chestnut Ridge Church of God in Hubbard, OH. Prior to coming to Chestnut Ridge she attended Newton Falls First Church of God for 60 years, until her health would no longer permit her to be actively involved. She served in many areas of the Newton Falls church throughout those years as: She was on Women Missionary Society Board, Nursery Director for over 45 years , sang in the church choir, Sunday School Teacher, served on Church Council, was involved with helping with the Brownie and Girl Scout Troop at the church. Margaret was also a member of the Civil Defense and helped with the Newton Falls High School "Two-A-Day" program. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends some of her good old southern recipes or one she had found in any of her hundreds of cookbooks she collected. She loved her flowers, " find a word" puzzle books and reading her Bible, Memories Margaret will be carried on by, two sons, James D. (Becky) Peace of Newton Falls, Eddie C. (Verna) Peace of North Carolina, one daughter, Linda (Andy) Hospodor of Cortland, daughter-in-law, Kay Peace of Newton Falls; brother, Frank Elledge of GA. Margaret also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Clarence & Lillian, her husband James, son Freddie, sister Martha and brother Bill. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Friends may also greet the family one hour prior to the funeral services which will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of God in Newton Falls, with Pastor Rob McFarland officiating the service. Margaret will be laid to rest in Newton Falls Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 (330)872-5440.
