Marlene Evelyn Starkey, age 91 formerly of Garfield Heights, OH passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday Jan. 6, 2024 at the Country Club Rehabilitation Center in Newton Falls.  She was born on Jan. 8, 1932 in Garfield Heights, OH the daughter of the late John Mateja and Elsie (Chadima) Mateja.  Marlene was married to George William Starkey for 47 years until his death in 1995.  She has lived in Newton Falls for the past 6 years, but lived most of her life in Garfield Heights.  Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband George, 2 sons: Donald Allen Starkey & Robert James Starkey and 1 brother: Norman Mateja.

She is survived by: 2 sons: John & Caroline Starkey of Newton Falls, Jeffrey Starkey of Hartville, OH,  7  grandchildren: Bill, Carmen, Jacqueline, Robert Sara, Stephanie, Joseph and 4 great grandchildren: Payton, Dante, Dominic, and Vincent.

Private family services will be held.  Marlene will be laid to rest beside her husband George at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, OH.
