Martha Elizabeth Murphy (formerly Peck) age 74, of Warren passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 4, 2013 at her daughter's residence following a courageous 2 year battle with Colorectal Cancer. She was born on January 23, 1939 in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late Joseph S. Murphy & Sally F. (Bennett) Murphy. Martha had lived in Warren for over 50 years, and also lived in Lake Placid, FL for 10 years. She was a 1957 Champion High School graduate, where she excelled in Track, Softball and Cheerleading. Then she worked as a school bus driver for Champion School District for 20 years before she retired in 1988. Martha enjoyed camping, sewing, crocheting, going to casinos, she loved the beach, and spending time with her kids, and grandchildren. She participated in the Warren Relay for Life for the last 2 years and this year she was a banner holder. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister- in- law: Norma Murphy, 1 brother- in- law: William Harris, 1 grandson: T.J. Sayers, and her in -laws Ira & Elizabeth Peck. Memories of Martha will be carried on by her loving family: 3 daughters: Judith Smith of Warren, Jodi & Greg Smith of Warren, Jami & Michael Wilson of Philadelphia, PA. 1 son: James Peck of Kinsman, OH, 1 sister: Juanita & Gene Ziegler of Warren, 2 brothers: Charles Murphy of Logan, WV, Waymon & Jeanne Murphy of Leavittsburg, 6 grandchildren: Joey Smith-Rood, Michael & Jessica Smith, Brian Smith, Kelsi & Jeshua Logsdon, Elizabeth Sayers, Kristen Wilson, 2 great- grandchildren: Dylan & Deven Rood, and 1 great granddaughter due in November, Presley Smith. Cremation has taken place. Following Martha's wishes, her children will be hosting a celebration of life party on Friday June 7, 2013 at 6:30pm at Champion Christian Church in Champion. At Martha's request, dress is to be casual colorful attire, and please no black clothing. A special thanks you to Hospice of the Valley (Jennifer), the area agency on aging (Pam), Seidman Cancer Center, and friends and family for all your thoughts & prayers.
