Obituary

Marvin Higgins Gordon, age 94 of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at St. Joseph's Health Center. Marvin was born on December 8, 1922 in Windham, the son of the late George & Myrtle (Higgins) Gordon. Marvin married the former Marjorie Fae Sutliff on February 22, 1944. Marvin and Marjorie have been blessed with 72 wonderful years of marriage. Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was a nose gunner serving in WWII. Marvin was a POW for 1 year 17 days in Germany. After the service Marvin worked at the Ravenna Arsenal in the Sewer and Water Department for 42 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Newton Falls. Marvin enjoyed farming, and spending time with his dog, children and grandchildren. Loving memories of Marvin will be carried on by his wife, Marjorie Gordon of Newton Falls, daughter, Linda (David) Clark of Newton Falls, sons; Gary (Barb) Gordon of Newton Falls, Richard (Judith) Gordon of Lordstown, sisters; Zella Baker of Canfield, Mary Baughman of West Virginia, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters; Ruth Held, Wilma Gordon, Francis Morar and 2 brothers; Russell and Irl Gordon. Per Marvin's wishes, there are no calling hours or services. Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held. Marvin will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery in Newton Falls. The family requests that monetary contributions may be made to Washington Square Veterans Facility, c/o Washington Square Healthcare Center, 202 NW Washington St., Warren, OH 44483 in honor of Marvin H.
