Mary L. Grenter age 97 formerly of Braceville passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday Nov.19, 2024 at the Ohio Living Lake Vista Nursing Home in Cortland.  She was born on Feb. 5, 1927 in North Bloomfield, OH the daughter of the late Louis Andrew Peterson and Myrtle Lillian (Carlson) Peterson.  Mary graduated from Mesopotamia High School in the Class of 1945, and has lived in Braceville, OH since 1949.  She married the love of her life, Leland Eugene Grenter on June 6, 1948 and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage together until his death on July 4, 2014.  Mary was a long-time member of the Braceville United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, clothing design, listening to music, and playing the guitar.  Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leland, 1 son: Lynn J. Grenter, 2 sisters: Evelyn Leach, June Wilcox, and 3 brothers: Harold, Louis and Nelson Peterson.

She is survived by: 2 daughters: Faye & Garry Houk of New Castle, PA, and Renee & Clay Mills of Cedar Park, TX., 1 sister: Elaine & Greg Ferance of The Villages, FL, 6 grandchildren: Caroline, Virginia, Matthew, Jimmy, Eddie, Leigh- Anne, and 8 great grandchildren.

Private family services have been held. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Leland and her son Lynn at Fairview Cemetery in Mesopotamia, OH.
