Obituary

Mary Malinda "Richardson" Harvey, 86 of Diamond entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at The Gables of Kent Ridge surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on May 16, 1928 in Painesville, the daughter of the late Stanley & Elizabeth (Storm) Richardson. She has lived in Diamond for the past 15 years, formerly of Streetsboro. Mary graduated from Huron Road Hospital in 1949 and has served as a registered nurse at various hospitals including the Hattie Larlham Foundation. She retired from Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna in 1988. Mary married Rev. Harry Harvey on December 16, 1950 in Willoughby. Mary & Harry were blessed with 64 years of marriage. She was a former member of the Streetsboro United Methodist Church for years. Mary was an active member of the Wayland Community Church where she taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. Mary was an avid skier with Harry and took many trips to Colorado, Utah, Canada, Italy and New York to persue her passion. Mary enjoyed life to the fulliest. She enjoyed hang gliding, white water rafting, riding roller coasters and her last trip with Harry was an Alaskan Cruise. Mary's greatest love was her grandchildren whom she taught all how to swim. Loving memories of Mary will be carried on by her husband, Rev. Harry Harvey of Diamond, children, Rebecca (Robert) Haines of Kent, Laurence (Melanie) Harvey of Lumberton, NC, Victoria (Chris) Hovan of Colorado, Tamara (Robert) Cunningham of Kent, sister, Joanne Shuminski of Newton Falls, brother, Herbert Richardson of Kirtland, her special niece, Jackie Shuminski, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Mary was preceeded in death by her parents, a daughter, Candace Tucker and her sisters, Thelma Shuminski and Rhoda Pawley. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday at 2:00PM at Wayland Community Church, 6355 Wayland Rd., Wayland, OH 44285. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Wayland Community Church Reception Hall in memory of Mary. The family would like to thank the staff of Harbor Light Hospice and The Gables of Kent Ridge for their loving care and compassion for Mary and her family.
