Myrna Joy Staats, age 77 of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Laurie Ann Nursing Home. Myrna was born on August 20, 1938 in Delaware, OH, the daughter of the late Rodney & Vera (Shamhart) Pickens. Myrna married Melvin E. Staats on June 17, 1960. Myrna & Melvin have been blessed with 55 wonderful years of marriage. Myrna was previously employed as a secretary/clerk of court with the City of Newton Falls and Bar Processing. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton Falls where she was very active, taught Sunday School and was a past Elder. Myrna enjoyed helping her husband coach. Loving memories of Myrna will be carried on by her husband, Melvin E. Staats of Newton Falls, daughter, Diana (Bob) Baker of Newton Falls, son, Brian (Crystal) Staats of Doylestown, OH and her grandchildren, Emma Baker, R.J. Baker, Kayla Staats and Lauren Staats. Myrna was preceeded in death by her sister & brother-in-law, Linda & Richard Kender. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Rev. Calvin Mason will officiate. Myrna will be laid to rest in Newton Falls Cemetery.
