Obituary

Paul Linwood Williamson, age 78 of Newton Falls passed away into eternal life on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at The Shepard of the Valley in Howland with his loving family by his side. On October 4, 1935, in Warren, Ohio, Paul Clayton & Marie (Smerik) Williamson were blessed with the birth of their son, Paul. He was active in the boy scouts as a young man and as an adult, helping to lead young boys in scouting. Paul was a graduate of Howland High School. He then went to collage in Idaho and Youngstown State earning a Bachelors in business and education. He then went to Kent State to earn his Masters Degree in education. Paul married the love of his life, Mary Ann Skruck on June 24, 1961 and they enjoyed 53 years of blessed marriage together. Paul and Mary have lived in Newton Falls for the past 50 years, formerly of Hubbard. He worked as a teacher and principal for the Garrettsville Schools for over 20 years. Paul served his country as a Staff Sgt. in the US Air Force working as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. He also worked in journalism for Defense Information. Paul and Mary were members of the St. Mary's & St. Joseph's Church in Newton Falls. Paul enjoyed years as a base singer with the Warren Chapter of The Barber Shoppers and was a published writer for several different magazines. He enjoyed trout fishing and was a naturalist. He especially enjoyed his fishing trip to Alaska with his son. But, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Memories of Paul will be carried on by his loving family; his wife Mary Ann of Newton Falls; his three sons & their wives Paul & Judith Williamson of Champion, James Williamson of Tionesta,PA, Joel & Patricia Williamson of Kingwood,TX; his sister & her husband Barbara & Jack Von Thaer of Kinsman; 4 grandchildren Gregory & Steven Kostyo and Brittany & Christopher Williamson. Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 5 to 7PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:00AM & at the St. Mary's & St. Joseph's Church in Newton Falls at 10:30AM. Paul will be laid to rest at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Newton Falls. The family asks that all contributions go in the form of donations to the Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market Street Youngstown, Ohio 44512-2198 in memory of Paul.
