Paul Harvey Young, Sr., age 81, of Windham, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Monday, September 5, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 8, 1930, in Monument, PA the son of the late Merrill Ernest Young & Violet Marie (Miller) Young. Paul married the love of his life, Gloria June Schenck on August 28, 1949 and they recently enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. Paul had lived in Windham since 1954 and worked for Harbison-Walker Refractories for 42 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the US Navy and regularly attended the Windham Bible Church where he loved going to Wednesday morning bible study. Paul loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was an avid baseball fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cleveland Indians. He also loved hunting, especially with his grandson Michael, and good friend Ray Doolittle. Memories of Paul will be carried on by his loving family; his wife, Gloria Young of Windham; his sons and their wives Paul & Opal Young Jr. of Newton Falls, Scott & Linda Young of Lima; his sister and her husband Sara & Bob Rote of Blanchard, PA; 4 grandchildren Michael & Tracy Young of Newton Falls, Sarah Young of Lima, Amanda & Dave Davis of Newton Falls, Emily Young of Lima; 4 great-grandchildren Cole Lorence, Emma Young, Brendan Scott Young and Madison Davis. In lieu of flowers the family asks that all material contributions be made to either Hospice & Visiting Nurses at Robinson Memorial Hospital 6847 North Chestnut Street Ravenna, Ohio 44266 or Windham Bible Church 9550 Windham -Parkman Road Windham, Ohio 44288. Calling hours will be held at the Windham Bible Church in Windham on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the church on Friday September 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. where calling hours will be held one hour prior to service time from from 10am to 11 am. Pastor Fred Youngen will be officiating the service. Paul will be laid to rest at Windham Twp Cemetery.
