Phyllis Mae Kolacz, age 98, of Newton Falls, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Antonine Village Nursing Home in North Jackson. She was born on June 23, 1927, in Dillonville, OH, the daughter of the late Carl Mozingo and Mary Francis (Griffith) Mozingo. Phyllis lived in Newton Falls for most of her life and graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1945. She married the love of her life, Ted J. Kolacz, on July 2, 1954, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage together until his death on Aug. 25, 2017. Phyllis and her husband were the Owners/Operators of Pike Plaza Motel & Restaurant in Newton Falls on Route 5 from 1960 -1990. She was a long- time member of the First Christian Church in Newton Falls. Phyllis loved visiting with her friends, spending time with her family and grandchildren and reading. She and her husband, Ted, enjoyed collecting and driving their antique and vintage cars. They also enjoyed having friends and family over every Sunday at Lake Milton for good food and good company. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted and 1 brother Carl Mozingo, Jr.

Phyllis is survived by 1 daughter: Marikay Kolacz of DeLand, FL; 1 son: Ted & Denise Kolacz of Newton Falls; 3 grandchildren: Emily & Gary Rozhon of Newton Falls; Ted "Kameron" & Hanna Kolacz of Canton, OH; and Mitchell Kolacz of Newton Falls; and 1 great grandson, Isaac Rozhon.

Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Spurlock officiating. Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Ted, at Newton Falls Cemetery. The family has requested that all donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 50501, in her memory.
