Raymond Lee Davis, 86 of Braceville passed away into eternal life on Saturday, August 20, 2011 due to a tractor accident. Raymond was born on January 14, 1925 in Greene, OH the son of the late Lewis & Marie (Noble) Davis. He married the love of his life, the former Marjorie Jean Pashley on February 20, 1945 and she passed away after 54 years of marriage on March 24, 1999. Raymond worked as a die setter for Rockwell International for 23 years before retiring in 1976. He also worked on farms for many years including his own. Raymond served in the Merchant Marines for two years and the United States Air Force for 26 months where he earned the rank of Corporal. He was active in the Braceville United Methodist Church, the Lions Club in Braceville for many years, the Farm Bureau where he was on Council and the Men's Prayer Breakfast in Braceville. Raymond was involved in the Davis and Case maple syrup business with his daughter and son-in-law, Richard & Rita Case since 1979. Ray has always taken great pride in doing his maple syrup products, and has loved doing it for many years. Ray was a cow sitter for local vacationing farmers and he worked for the Blood Drive. His favorite activity was visiting with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, son Gary Ray Davis, who died in Vietnam, and one sister Martha Ann Newton. Memories of Ray will be carried on by his loving family; daughters Diane Belyew (Pete), Linda Sue Lee (Ralph) and Rita Case (Richard), grandchildren, Mark Lanehart (Vanessa), Nancy Slatton (Criss), Sandee and Jenny Case, great grandchildren, Matthew Lanehart and Sabrina Slaton, brothers Miland and Wilmer Davis, sisters, Helen Martindale, Marcella "Sally" Bingle and Thelma Alborn. Calling hours for Ray will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday August 25, 2011 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Braceville United Methodist Church on Friday August 26, 2011 at 10:00 am. Ray will be laid to rest next to his wife Jean at Braceville Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Raymond to Braceville United Methodist Church, 577 Park Rd. SW, Braceville, OH 44430.
