Richard Alan Crays, age 76, of Southington passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday August 10, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on September 28, 1936, in Warren, OH the son of the late Rudolph X. Crays & Alice M. (Poulson) Crays. Richard married the love of his life, Phyllis I. Tennant, on October 12, 1957 and they enjoyed 56 years of marriage together. He worked as a lineman for United Telephone (Sprint) for 30 years before retiring in 1997. Richard was a member of the U.S Army serving during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Braceville Lions Club, and the "Just Friends" Barbershop Chorus. He loved being a little league baseball coach, fishing, spending the winters in Florida with his wife, and was an avid gardener. Richard was also the owner and operator of Crays Produce, where they sold home grown vegetables for many years. Loving memories of Richard will be carried on by his loving family; his wife Phyllis I. Crays of Southington, his daughter Cheryl Francis of Howland; his daughter & son-in-law Diane & Larry Grove of Braceville; his son & daughter-in-law Richard & Arletta Crays of Braceville; his son Jon Crays of Warren; his grandchildren Jennifer, Brandon, & Cameron Francis, Ryan, Lauren & Allyson Crays, Elizabeth & Andrew Grove. Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00PM with Pastor Robert Bauman officiating the service. Richard will be laid to rest at Braceville Cemetery.
