Obituary

Robert Lincoln Force, 85 of Milton Twp. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his residence. Bob was born on February 12, 1929 in Milton Twp. the son of Erland Strock & Minnie (Spell) Force. He has lived in Milton Twp. his entire life. Bob married the former Betty Ruth Bethel on June 6, 1959. Bob and Betty were blessed with 55 years of marriage. Bob was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He served with the combat infantry where he received the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. Bob graduated with his education degree from Ohio University. Bob was employed with the Newton Falls School System for 35 years retiring in 1989. He started out his career teaching social studies, government and driver's education training. Bob then became the High School Principal for the Newton Falls Schools. Bob also took pride in the Newton Falls athletics. He coached junior high basketball from 1954-1959, he was the assistant high school football coach from 1960-1965 and head baseball coach from 1955-1972. Bob was an assistant coach for the Hot Stove League in Lake Milton. Bob was a member of the Newton Falls First Christian Church, Newton Falls VFW Post 3332, American Legion Post 737, lifetime member of the Korean War Veterans Association of Mahoning Valley Chapter, lifetime member of the Trumbull County Retired Teacher's Association. One of Bob's greatest accomplishments that he was very proud of was being a blood donor. He had donated 184 units or 23 gallons. Bob also was an assistant for 24 years with James Funeral Home. Bob enjoyed farming and with his wife Betty, antiquing and traveling. Loving memories of Bob will be carried on by his wife, Betty Force of Milton Twp., his daughter & son-in-law, Diahn & Todd Carpenter of Milton Twp., his son & daughter-in-law, Dwight (Ike) & Ruth Force of Auburn, IN, brother & sister-in-law, Frank & Marjorie Force of Williamsburg, VA and his loving grandchildren, Victoria, Abigail, Carson and Warren. Bob was preceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Force. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church, 17 N. Center St., Newton Falls, OH 44444. Rev. Calvin Mason will officiate. Bob will be laid to rest at Eckis Cemetery. The family requests that contributions may be made to Amvets Post 112, 37 Broad St., Newton Falls, OH 44444.
