Robert Deane Held, age 81, of Newton Falls, passed into eternal life on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Laurie Ann Nursing Home of natural causes. Bob was born on August 17, 1930 in Newton Falls, OH the son of the late Robert Rolland Held & Florence Margaret (Finnical) Held. Robert married the love of his life, Ruth Lucille Gordon on October 5, 1952 and they enjoyed 34 blessed years of marriage together before she passed away on December 31, 1986. He had lived in Newton Falls all his life delivering milk in Newton Falls with the last horse drawn milk delivery wagon for the Burton Dairy; the City of Newton Falls Water Department and as a truck driver for Jones Motors until his retirement in 1995. Robert was a member of the US Army during the Korean War, a member of the Newton Falls American Legion, and the First Congregational Church in Newton Falls. He was a Newton Falls Volunteer Fireman for over 40 years and loved doing it. He also helped his father at the family owned lawn mower shop for many years. Memories of Robert will be carried on by his loving family; his daughters Marilyn & Bradley Rauch of Port Orange, FL, Shirley Prindle of Newton Falls; his son Donald & Reva Held of Newton Falls; his grandchildren Kimberley Ridenour, Karen Rauch, Kevin Rauch all of FL, Rebecca Mohan of OH, Brenton Held of NC and Michael Held of OH and five great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 10:30AM. Robert will be laid to rest next to his wife in Newton Falls Cemetery.
