Robert Ashley Taft, age 70, of Windham passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at his residence. Robert was born on May 1, 1941 in Warren, OH the son of the late Francis Taft and Hazel (Smallsreed) Taft. He married the love of his life, Ann Louise Shoup on July 8, 1967 and they have enjoyed 44 years of marriage together. Robert worked most of his life as a self employed dairy farmer on his farm in Windham. He also was a member of the Windham Congregational United Church of Christ for many years and a church trustee. He also volunteered for the free community dinners sponsored by the church. He is preceded in death by only his parents. Memories of Robert will be carried on by his loving family: 1 daughter: Julie & Charles Heasley of Ravenna, OH, 1 son: Rob & Conni Taft of Bar Harbor, ME, 1 sister: Marjorie & James Sunbury of Johnston, OH, 3 grandchildren: Chloe Heasley, Emily and Jessica Trimmer. Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Wednesday Dec. 14, 2011 at 10:30 am with Rev. Patrick Malone officiating. The family will receive friends for calling hours at the funeral home on Tuesday Dec. 13, 2011 from 6-8 pm. Robert will be laid to rest beside his parents at Windham Twp. Cemetery.
