Obituary

Ronald E. Nye, of Warren, OH died at age 85 on December 28, 2023 after a full and happy life. His friends called him Ron, but he was Papa Ron and Dad to those who loved him most.  Ron was enormously proud to have been a member of the Ohio Air National Guard, worked 40 years as an electrician at the GM Lordstown plant, and served as a member/officer/instructor of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 53 years. He was an avid boater and long time member of the Beaver Valley Yacht Club. When he was not helping others, he loved traveling, puttering in his yard, keeping up on politics, eating ice cream, tinkering in his barn, and boating. There was not a problem Ron met that he could not solve with his ingenuity. Ron was a competitive, strong-willed prankster right until the very end. He lived his life on his terms, and he chose to go out when and how he wanted. Despite his ornery attitude, he lived for his children and grandchildren, they were the light of his life.

He leaves behind two cherished children, Nikki (Steve) Spriggs of Vermilion, Ohio and Mark (Suzanne) Nye of Jacksonville, Florida. He also leaves behind a gaggle of grandchildren: Matthew (Jessica) Wilcox, Kristen Nye, McKenzie (Ryan Whaley) Spriggs, Addison Spriggs, Jacqueline (Gilberto) Reyes, Alexander (Meghan) Spriggs, Chloe Watson, Danielle Bahnasy, Samantha Bahnasy, and Michael Bahnasy. He is now watching and waiting from above for the imminent birth of his first great-grandchild. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Weldon Nye, his brothers, Roger and Edward Nye, and his beloved daughter, Stacy (Abdullah) Bahnasy.

We know that at this very moment Ron is sipping a beer in heaven, eating ice cream, and playing games on his computer. At least, we hope that is the case.
