Russell H. VanDyke, age 71 of Ravenna entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Altercare in Brimfield. Russell was born on August 1, 1942 in Ravenna, OH the son of the late Harold Francis & Bernadine Lucille (Boston) Van Dyke.

On February 15, 1964, Russell married the former Joan Ann Cain. They were blessed with 43 years of marriage before her passing on July 16, 2007.

Russell had lived in Ravenna and worked as a truck driver for Chapman Excavation. He was a member of the US Air Force, Palmyra Methodist Church, Charity Masonic Lodge #530, Palmy Chapter Eastern Star, VFW, American Legion,and Honor Guard in Deerfield, Scottish Rite & the York Rite in Canton.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and horses.

Loving memories of Russell will be carried on by his sons William (Heidi) VanDyke of Ravenna, Michael & Courtney VanDyke of Munroe Falls;his sister Polly Boitle of Anderson,SC; his brother Allan Van Dyke of Houston,TX; his grandsons William Jr. & Jason. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joan Ann, his daughter, Shelly Renee VanDyke.

A special thanks to his niece Bonnie Romine and his great nieces Virginia & Angel Romine for helping to make his last days comfortable.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls from 10:30AM to 12:00PM. A Masonic Service will be held a 12:00PM and funeral service will immediately follow. Russell will be laid to rest at Palmyra West Cemetery next to his wife Joan.
