Ruth J. Getz, age 86 of Lordstown entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren. Ruth was born in Lordstown on January 26, 1927 the daughter of Ray & Mildred (Platt) Messersmith. She has lived in Lordstown her entire life. Ruth was married 57 years to Joseph Getz until his passing on October 7, 1997. Ruth was a life long member of Lordstown Christian Church. She enjoyed family activities, baking, cooking and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Nascar. Loving memories of Ruth will be carried on by her daughter, Loretta (Joseph) Kovach of Lake Milton, her sons, Larry J. (Betty) Getz of Burnsville, NC, Richard Getz of Lordstown, Raymond (Linda) Getz of McDonald, her sister, Betty Smith of Hartford, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 nephews and 2 great nephews. Ruth was preceeded in death by her husband, Joseph, her brother, Harold Messersmith and her sister, Marjorie Messersmith. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 am at the Lordstown Christian Church. Dr. Rev. Bernard Oaks will officiate. Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband at Lordstown Cemetery.
