Obituary

Scott Edwin Clark age 51, passed away at his home on April 17, 2026 in Tucson, Arizona after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 31,1974 in Warren, Ohio to Daniel and Cheryl Clark. Scott grew up in Mineral Ridge, Ohio and graduated in 1992 from Mineral Ridge High School where he was the salutatorian of his graduating class. He furthered his education at Youngstown State University receiving both a bachelors and masters degree. In 1998 he chose the University of Arizona to pursue a doctorate degree. His desire to educate, particularly in mathematics, was his lifelong passion. He used his God-given time on earth wisely. He became a full time employee at the University of Arizona in the mathematics department where he remained until his death. In his spare time, he traveled enjoying cruises, trips to Europe and he always came home to Ohio for Christmas. He loved following college basketball and, of course, the Ohio State Buckeyes. He became educated in the field of cancer and spent long hours and years in hospitals and cancer centers. Throughout all of this time and pain, he never complained.

He is survived by his parents Dan & Cheryl Clark, his sister, Dana Esposito (Rick),and half sisters Carrielynn Clark and Danielle Safko. His nephews Andrew, Cruz, Logan, Sam and Joe, and niece Lily. Uncles Howard Smith(Ginger) and Terry Smith and Aunt Marygrace Clark (Aunt Mickey), many cousins and family friends. Scott was very thankful for the many cards and prayers he received. His many friends, colleagues, and students at the University of Arizona as well as his neighbors in Tucson loved and supported him through many good and bad times.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Howard and Virginia Smith, and George and Mary Lou Stulock, Aunt Mary Hart and Uncle Ron Clark.

A celebration of Scott’s life will take place on Wednesday July 22, 2026 at 12:00pm at the James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad St, Newton Falls, Ohio. A luncheon will follow. Scott’s wishes were to be buried in Ohio with his parents so his cremated remains will be laid to rest at Kerr Cemetery in Mineral Ridge at a later date.
