Shade Raymond Bailey, age 73 of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, April 26, 2011 at his residence. The late Smith Seldon and Orvie (Siers) Bailey were blessed with the birth of Shade on May 26, 1937, in the majestic mountains of Milo, Calhoun County, WV. On January 23, 1961, Shade married the love of his life, Lottie Cook, daughter of Alden and Bessie (Boyd) Cook in Grundy, Buchanan County, VA. The happy couple recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Shade moved to the Newton Falls area with Luxaire Cushion Company where he was employed 6 years as a foreman before going to work at GM Lordstown plant as an auto worker; where he retired after 30 years of service in 1994. One of his dreams became a reality when he purchased his own family farm in the 70's. After his retirement from GM, it enabled him to spend more time with his family, travel, and just be on the land he loved so much. He was of the Christian faith and had previously attended Believers Christian Fellowship in Warren. Warm and loving memories of Shade will be carried on by his faithful wife, Lottie; four beautiful daughters, Karen (Joseph) Leopardi of Amanda, OH, Mary (Clint)Thompson of Alexandria, OH, Shalene (Joseph) Mennett of Wickliffe, OH, Darlene Bailey of Grove City, OH; four wonderful grandchildren RaeLynn Leopardi, Joshua Leopardi, Noah Thompson and Nathan Mennett; Siblings of Shade include 7 surviving sisters and 2 brothers; Lois( Don) Coutu of Little Hocking, OH, Sandy Rader of Louisville, OH, Susie Dixon of Spencer, WV, Madge (Don) Rouch of Fleming, OH, Bernice Mayle of Ravenna, Janet (Kenny) Burns of Leavittsburg, Jean (Paul) Lawrence of Marietta, OH, Sherwood John (Nancy) Bailey of Vincent, OH, and Shelby (Sandy) Bailey of Newton Falls. Preceeding Shade in death is one daughter Ronda Lynn Bailey; one sister Grace Roberts and two brothers Hunter & Seldon Bailey. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Shade will be laid to rest in Newton Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions go to the Hattie Larlham Foundation (services for adults & children with developmental disabilities) 9772 Diagonal Road Mantua, Ohio 44255.
