Sherry Lynn Nicholas age 54 of Niles, passed away peacefully at 10:00PM Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Laurie Ann Nursing Home, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving family by her side. She was born on October 7, 1959, in Elkins, WV, the daughter of Gerald D. & Shirley George Schoonover. Sherry attended school at Coalton, WV, Windham, OH and was a graduate of LaBrae High School, where she lived before moving in with her parents in Niles, five years ago. Sherry is survived by her parents of Niles; her two sons, Ronald Joe & Stephanie Nicholas III of Newton Falls, Gerald Densel Nicholas of Bloomfield; one granddaughter Aubri, one sister Debra Hayes of Warren; two brothers Gregory Schoonover of Bristolville, and Tom & Robin Schoonover of Cortland. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews aunts, and uncles. She is preceeded in death by one brother Danny Ray Schoonover. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls from 6:00 to 8:00PM. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 10:00AM. Rev. Ken Kern will be officiating. Sherry will be laid to rest at Meadowbrook Memorial Park in Champion. The family suggests that memorial contributions take form of donations in Sherry's memory to Hospice of the Valley or their favorite charities. The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Valley, and Laurie Ann's Nursing Home for their care of Sherry in her final days.
