Stella Mae Kinkes, age 88 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday Oct. 23, 2018 at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren, OH. She was born on March 7, 1930 in Farmdale, OH the daughter of the late Harrison B. Wells and Hilda E. (Folson) Wells. She was born at home one of six children in her family. She attended Johnston High School in 1948. She was employed at Packard Electric as a secretary for 5 years. While at Packard Electric, she became acquainted with a young man named Robert Kinkes. Robert and Stella were married a week after he returned from Korea on February 9, 1952. Robert and Stella were together 55 years until Robert died on March 2, 2007. She worked as a secretary for Packard Electric for only 5 years and retired in 1956 to become a full time housewife. She was a member of the Newton Falls United Methodist Church for many years. She taught Sunday school 19 years until a health problem arose. She was a girl scout leader for 15 years, her troop enjoyed a week's trip to our State Capital. They also took many trips to Oglebay Park in WV. She spent many hours with her troop at Camp Sugar Bush and Camp Millwood. Stella devoted her life caring for her family and working with young people. Her son Brian was her care giver. Stella loved gardening, sewing, cooking, playing cards, knitting, reading, and watching the Cleveland Indians play on TV with her granddaughter Lori. Her most enjoying time was spent cooking and baking bread, and 40 dozen cookies made at Christmas and given away as gifts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, 1 son: Harry Kinkes, 1 sister: Margaretta Wells, and 3 brothers: Devilla, Chauncey & John Wells.
Stella and Robert provided a loving home for their 3 children: 1 daughter: Tina Griffin of Newton Falls, 1 son: Brian L. Kinkes of Newton Falls, 1 sister: Ruth & Robert Smith of Williamsfield, OH, and 1 granddaughter: Lori Griffin of Cleveland, OH.
Per Stella's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service for Stella will be at the Newton Falls United Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:00am with Rev. Jeff Lanzer officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to service time from 10:00 am -11:00 am. She will be laid to rest with her husband Robert and her son, Harry in Newton Falls Cemetery.
The family would like to send thanks to friends who visited and shared in Bible study every week. Also to Dr. Khaterpaul and his staff for their loving care over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be made to the Newton Falls United Methodist Church 336 Ridge Rd. Newton Falls, OH 44444 in memory of Robert & Stella Kinkes.
