Obituary

Susan Lou Chmielewski age 80 of Liberty Township, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday Aug. 25, 2026 at her residence. She was born on November 11, 1945 in Warren, OH the daughter of the late Lloyd Brooks Stevens and Mary Elizabeth (Chinnock) Stevens. Susan graduated from Farmington High School and went on to obtain her Associates degree from Kent State University. Following Kent State she enrolled and graduated from Trumbull Memorial Hospital's Nursing Program, becoming a registered nurse. She traveled the country being a nurse having worked for many different hospital systems and nursing facilities.

She married her first husband, James Shaffer on May 2, 1965. Together they shared 26 years of marriage until his passing on April 18, 1992. Susan married her second husband, Bernard J. Chmieleski on April 6, 1999 and together they shared 5 years of marriage until his passing on August 13, 2004.

She is survived her her children: Kimberly Boninsegna of Liberty Township with whom she made her home, James (Anne) Shaffer of LaPort, IN, Dannielle (Edward) Orr of Austintown; 1 brother, Charles (Laurel) Stevens of Kingston, AZ, 10 grandchildren: Aaron, Sarah, Amanda, Victoria, Ashlyn, Jakub, Spenser, Ashley, Grace, Rebecca, 6 great grandchildren: Josie, Christian, Callum, Lexi, Callahan, and Sienna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, James and Bernard and a daughter, Julie Chmielewski. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their love and compassion they gave to Susan during her difficult time.

According to Susan wishes, no calling hours or services will be held. Cremation will take place. The family has requested that all donations please be made to Heartland Hospice 1240 Boardman- Canfield Rd. #4C Boardman, OH 44512, or All About the Pawz 87 South Four Mile Run Rd. Austintown, OH 44515 in her name.
