Thomas Merne
Gulling
September 6, 1972 – June 7, 2026
Thomas Merne Gulling, known lovingly to family and friends as Tommy, passed away on June 7, 2026, at his residence in Newton Falls, Ohio with his loving family at his side following a six year battle with Melanoma.
He was born on September 6, 1972, in Canton, Ohio, to Paul “Edward” and Dianna (Dietrich) Gulling. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Gulling and grandparents Harry and Marie Gulling and Merne and Hazel Dietrich. A 1991 graduate of Marlington High School, Tom served four years in the U. S. Army 65th Engineer Battalion receiving Army Achievement Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Defense ribbon, Overseas ribbon, Good Conduct ribbon and was an Air Assault School graduate. Tom drove LTL freight as a CDL driver for 30+ years with over 2 million miles for Holland, Fed Ex Freight and Saia. He was known for his diligent work ethic and the camaraderie he shared with his colleagues.
When Tom met and married his wife, Jill, of 10 years, he became a loving parent to Allison (John) Seifert and Cameron Hunt. He is also survived by his mother, Dianna Gulling, children Kyle and Ashley Gulling and two grandchildren from his previous marriage. He is survived by brothers Patrick (Karen) Gulling, Darryl (Amy) Gulling and Rich (Karla) Gulling and in-laws Ron and Debbie Jones and brother- in- law Keith (Jennifer) Jones as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom was energetic with an optimistic zest for life. Known for his immaculate car detailing, Tom also loved boating, golfing, playing euchre, bowling and traveling with friends. He was equally passionate about Ohio State Buckeyes football and the Cleveland Browns. Tom was also a lifetime member of the Amvets Post #112 in Newton Falls. His spirit and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved and he will be dearly missed.
Per Tom’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations please be made to the Amvets Post #112 37 West Broad St. Newton Falls, OH 44444 in Tom’s memory.
