Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Dean Van Cure, Jr. age 71 formerly of Clearwater Beach, Florida passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday March 22, 2025 at the Austintown Healthcare Center after a brief illness. He was born on December 18, 1953 in Warren, OH the son of the late Thomas D. Van Cure Sr. and Frances L. (Camarata) Van Cure. Tom was a 1972 graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School.  He participated in the football program, ROTC, and was a boy scout for many years. Tom's heart and home was in Clearwater Beach, Florida where he lived for almost 50 years. Tom took full advantage of the Floridian way of life enjoying camping, the beaches, the ocean, snorkeling, diving, and fishing just to name a few things he did and enjoyed.

Tom married Debbie (Miller), a native Floridian in 1985 and was married to her until her untimely death from a car accident.  Tom held a variety of jobs from construction, barnacle removal, welding, and others however, he settled in as a chef working at many of the finest restaurants the beach had to offer.  At one point, he had his own place called "Toma's Kitchen" where it became a very popular spot due to his delicious daily specials.  Tom was a huge Steelers, Ohio State, Florida Gators, and Tampa Bay Buccaneer football fan.  He also was a big fan of the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays. He really enjoyed watching sports, especially college football. Tom will want to be remembered as a good-natured, fun-loving guy. He was always up for a good debate about pretty much anything. Also as a good brother, son and friend, he would like those left behind to celebrate his life (a life that he loved and enjoyed to its fullest). Tom will be deeply missed, especially that smile of his and twinkle in his eye that was always there. Now when his family vacations in Clearwater Beach, the absence of his presence will be deeply felt.

Tom leaves behind his sisters: Saundra L. Van Cure of NC, and Paula J. Van Cure of Warren, a brother: Christopher A. (Debbie) Van Cure of Warren, nephew: Scott (Sadie) Van Cure of Warren, niece: Monica (Dylan) Rief of Medina, OH who always called him "Uncle Squishy". Added to his family is a newly born great niece Chloe, daughter to Scott and Sadie. He also leaves an Aunt Marjorie Camarata of Warren, and Uncle Andre (Loretta) Camarata of Ashtabula, OH/Naples, FL, and also many cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, David Van Cure.

Tom's wishes were to be cremated, and there will be no services.  His cremains will be taken to his beloved Florida for final disposition at a later date and time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 (330)872-5440.  Family and friends may view his obituary online or to send condolences, please visit us at www.jamesfuneralhomeinc.com
