Thomas "Doc" L. Welsch age 56 formerly of Paris Twp passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday May 7, 2026 at the Community Skilled Nursing Home in Warren. He was born on Oct. 19, 1969 in Akron, OH the son of the late Lloyd Thomas Welsch and Nellie Marie (Longenecker) Welsch. Tom lived in New Franklin, OH for the last 11 years formerly of Paris Twp where he graduated from Southeast High School in the Class of 1988. After high school he joined the US Army. Then he worked as a self employed truck driver for over 33 years for Landstar Systems. and Barnhart Transportation. Tom has had multiple driving awards and has driven his truck over 3 million miles accident free. He loved riding motorcycles, boating, camping, fishing, building hot rods, and going to NHRA events. Tom was a member of the VFW Post #3332 in Newton Falls, and the Born Free Motorcycle Club. He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd & Nellie Welsch and 1 niece: Katelyn Nicole Welsch.
Tom is survived by: 1 brother: Mike Welsch of Ellsworth, OH and 3 nieces: Jennifer, Bridget, Alaina, 1 nephew: Nick, great nephew : Mac, his good friends: Ron & Cindy Hart of Newton Falls, and Charles (Chuckles) Dunsieth of Youngstown.
Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Wednesday May 13, 2026 at 1:00pm with Rev. Jennifer Dorn officiating. Calling hours will be from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Cremation will follow the service. He will be laid to rest beside his parents at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Twp. The family has requested that all donations please be made to either: Dogs for our Brave 6244 Clayton Ave. St. Louis, MO 63139, DAV (Disabled American Veterans) PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, or the Shriners Hospitals for Children 2900 North Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607 in his memory.
