USMC Cpl. David Gene Snowden, age 27 of Canfield (Greenford), peacefully entered into eternal rest in his childhood home on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 with Jessica by his side. David was born on May 12, 1989 in Youngstown, the loving and devoted son of William & Judy (Kirkpatrick) Snowden. He has lived in Canfield for the past year, formerly of Austintown and Berlin Center. David married Jessica Emily Unger on July 7, 2012. David and Jessica recently celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary and was a proud, loving husband. David was a valiant veteran of the United States Marine Corps. David was honorably discharged this past January after serving 8 years in the Military Police. David was a member of the Lake Milton Baptist Temple. He unconditionally loved his two boxers, Duplin and Delta. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting. David was a foreign weapons instructor in the Marine Corps, a knowledgeable gun enthusiast, and enjoyed shooting every chance that he could. One of David's greatest pleasures was spending time with Jessica in the woods, scouting or seeing what treasures they could find. David also enjoyed his first garden at his home in Canfield. David was a Cleveland Indians and Browns fan and tried to never miss a game. He was proud of being a catcher in baseball growing up. David was an original member of the House of Rock in Camp Lejeune, NC. David was a selfless man, and Marine; with passion so deep for what he believed in; he could move mountains. His strength inside and out, was unrivaled. His beloved Marine Corps leaves his legacy which is spread across the entire world from his travels. He would give the shirt from his back to whomever was in need. His smile lit up the room, no matter how dark. He was looked up to by countless people. No matter what the challenge, he never gave up. He loved with all he had. Loving memories of David will be carried on forever by his wife; Jessica Emily Snowden of Canfield and her parents, Robert & Debbie Unger of Bedford, Ohio, Jessica's sister Hanna Unger of Bedford, Ohio, his parents; William & Judy Snowden of Berlin Center, sister; Amanda (Michael) Greeley of Mansfield, TX, brother; William James Snowden of Mansfield, TX, nephew; Ashton, nieces; Aubrie and Brooke. David was the Godfather to Hayden. David was preceded in death by his grandparents. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Lake Milton Baptist Temple, 415 South Pricetown Rd., Diamond, OH 44412. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am also at the church. David will be laid to rest at Vaughn Cemetery with full military honors. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, 9500 Sweet Valley Dr., Valley View, OH 44125 in memory of David and the love for his girls.
