Velma Jane Jacob, age 90 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal life on January 14,2013 at Vista Center at The Ridge in Mineral Ridge. She was born on July 8, 1922 in the same house she currently lives in now in Newton Falls the daughter of Clyde Bennett Jones and Elsie Edith (Whitstone) Jones. Velma obtained her formal education from Newton Falls High graduating in 1940. Then Velma married the love of her life Michael A. Jacob on May 15, 1944, and he passed away after 63 years of wonderful marriage on Oct 23, 2007. She has lived and worked in Newton Falls as a self-employed beautician owning Velma's Beauty Shop for 48 years retiring in 1992. She is a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Newton Falls where she taught 3rd grade Sunday school for many years. She was a member of The Antique Comb Club, past president of DeMolay Mothers Club. Velma loved reading, collecting antiques, going to flea markets, early history, and most of all her family and friends. She also was the historian for the classmates of Newton Falls. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael, and 1 sister Frances Stinchcomb. Memories of Velma will be carried on by her loving family her son Terry & Debbie Jacob of Lake Milton, OH; her 2 grandchildren Sheri Lynn & Brian Beverage of North Ridgeville,OH, Andrea Robinson of Las Vegas, NV; and her 4 great-grandchildren Jacob, Charlie, Brian Beverage and Brandi Robinson. Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Saturday January 19, 2013 at 10:30 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Friday January 18, 2013. The Rev. Calvin Mason will be officiating the service. Velma will be laid to rest next to her husband Michael in Newton Falls Cemetery. Thanks to the Vista Ridge Staff, Management and Dr. Rostom for all their kindness and care given to Velma.
