Obituary

Victor P. Sole, age 81 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at his residence. Vic was born on April 17, 1930 in Hundred, WV the son of the late Otto C. & Chloe (Kern) Sole. He grew up and graduated high school in Hundred. After graduation, Victor headed to Wheeling, WV to attend Wheeling Barber College. After barber college, Victor headed to Warren, OH. After serving his apprenticeship, he and his brothers built the Sole Barber Shop in 30 days and started the business on March 1, 1951. A short time after arriving in Warren, he met the love of his life, Doris Jean Evans at the skating rink in Lake Milton. Victor and Doris were married on November 16, 1952 and settled into married life in Newton Falls. This is where they would raise five wonderful children. In 1976, Victor got his real estate sales license and worked for C.J. Brogan. In 1977, he got his broker's license and started Sole Realty. Victor was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton Falls where he was a past Deacon, Elder, served on the church board and sang in the choir for many years. He also attended Bible study at the Newton Falls First Church of God. Victor was past president of Kiwanis of Newton Falls, member of the Newton Falls Masonic Lodge #462 for 47 years, Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown and the Shriners. Victor loved having his family over for the holidays and singing together with Doris in the church cantatas. Victor also liked to fish, squirrel hunt and watch the stock market. He loved to tell the story of his memorable fishing trip to Canada when they got caught out on the lake as a big storm rolled in and he couldn't get the motor started because he sat the gas can on the hose. By the time he figured it out they barely got off the lake in time. Victor Sole loved all his customers and felt that he had a Masters Degree in Life from all the knowledge he gathered from the blue coller workers, Doctors and Lawyers. He had a lot of stories to tell but most never left the doors of the barber shop. Victor will be greatly missed by many friends and his memories will be cherished by his loving wife, Doris, his daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie & Bruce Johnson of Mechanicsburg, PA, Brenda & John Yukich of Greer, SC, sons, Greg and Bruce Sole both of Newton Falls, son and daughter-in-law, Doug & Carol Sole of Southington, his brother, Dale Sole of New Cumberland, WV, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews who loved him, and who he loved in return. Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls.
