Obituary

Virginia R. Smith age 90 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on June 3, 2013 at Shepard of the Valley Nursing Home in Niles. She was born on December 31, 1922 in Washington, PA the daughter of the late Archibald Craycraft and Ida M. (Algoe) Brownlee. Virginia married the love of her life, Howard E. Smith on Jan. 2, 1942 and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage together before he passed away on April 17, 1984. She has lived in Newton Falls for over 60 years where she worked for the Newton Falls Schools as a Janitor/Custodian for 14 yrs retiring in 1989. As a child, Virginia loved to sit with her father and listen to the baseball games on the radio, in her adult life she loved to watch college football and was an avid Browns Fan. She was a faithful member of the Newton Falls First Church of God for many years where she loved to sing in the choir, go on the senior trips with the members of the church, doing ceramics, and playing bingo. Virginia is preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. Loving memories of Virginia will be carried on by her: daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl & Daniel Clark of Mineral Ridge, son and daughter-in-law: Howard E. & Ginger Smith Jr. of Grand Forks, ND, son, Terry L. Smith, and 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Virginia will be laid to rest beside her husband Howard at Newton Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that all donations please be made to the Newton Falls First Church of God, Golden Agers Club 426 West Broad St. Newton Falls, OH 44444.
